Case Study - Great Barr Golf Club
Installing a cashless system to work with membership swipe cards
Great Barr Golf Club, in Birmingham, had been using a cashless system (supplied by a different company) but the system was continuously breaking down and was unreliable, resulting in members having to return to pay for their food and drinks by cash, much to their annoyance!
In 2009, GBGC approached Birmingham Cash Registers for help with this problem. We installed cash registers with card readers to operate a new cashless system. When members now renew their membership, a set amount is credited onto the card, which the member can use with the new tills.
Members are able to top up the money on their card in various ways, including at the cash register. By using the card, members receives an automatic discount off purchases, and do not have to worry about carrying cash. The system is flexible to allow cash purchases as well, if required.
Everyone wins with the new system. The Club does not have to handle so much cash with all the security problems that can arise, and also the members benefit.
BCR have arranged for the card to operate the car park barrier and door access to the Club, meaning one membership card has multi functions.
